In my last post, I shared that homeless youth are vulnerable to human trafficking as well as many other dangers. These kids need a place where they can go to be safe and get help. Safe Place provides help for youth who are in crisis situations or at risk of danger.
There are many dangers that face runaway and homeless youth. Safe Place is an alternative. In honor of National Safe Place Week March 14-20, 2010, National Safe Place is providing awareness of the many dangers and problems that face homeless youth.
Safe Place is a network of “safe place locations” that open their doors for a safe place for youth in crisis to get help. Check out National Safe Place to learn more about what Safe Place is and how Safe Place works.
Safe Place also has a project called Txt 4 Help to assist teens in connecting to a Safe Place location. Teens can text the word SAFE and their current location to the number 69866 and receive an address of a Safe Place site.
Visit the Safe Place website to find out where Safe Place Programs are in your community, discover some answers to FAQs about Safe Place, and take a look at the impact of Safe Place.
