When I first learned about human trafficking several years ago, my heart absolutely broke. My days and nights were consumed with thinking about this tragic issue and the people who were suffering because of it. I had to do something to help stop it. God placed a burden on my heart that wouldn’t go away. I was compelled to join the fight against modern-day slavery.
Just about that same time, Dr. Tomi Grover felt the Lord laying a burden on her heart to educate the Christian church about the issue of human trafficking and why Christians should respond to this injustice. Since then, she has written a book about human trafficking called Compelled. Listen to Tomi talk about her book in the video below.
Compelled is a book that is not only full of inspiring stories about ordinary people who were compelled to join the fight against human trafficking, but it’s also a great resource to point readers to many helpful websites and other resources about this issue, as well as ways to get involved.
What about you? Have you been compelled to join the fight against modern-day slavery? If not, read Compelled and see if the Lord lays a burden on your heart to get involved. And then, as Tomi says in her book, pray about how God would have you respond to this injustice.
Dr. Tomi Grover has graciously offered to give away 3 copies of her eBook, Compelled. If you would like to win one of these, please enter the giveaway below. This giveaway will end on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM Mountain Time.
Thanks so much, Tomi, for giving away your book!
I don’t believe I do enough to help end human trafficking. I however do what I can in spreading awareness, giving speeches, and helping support people I know who have personally worked with organizations or actually supporting individual organizations as well. Also, I am careful in what I buy in regards to slave labor.
What you are doing is great!! Thanks!
I am doing all i can to leverage my place and stage of life as a mom to engage other moms in this fight via my http://www.doalittlegood.com site and local activism.
That’s excellent, Chelsea! Thanks so much!!
