Amazing Grace in the Life of William Wilberforce

I recently listened to the audiobook,  Amazing Grace in the Life of William Wilberforce, by John Piper, read by Wayne Shepherd.  It is a brief overview of William Wilberforce’s life and passion to end slavery in the late 1700s, and his passion for Christ which was his ultimate motivation for doing good.  If you are looking for a quick way to learn a little about this courageous and humble Christian Abolitionist, this would be a good resource for you.  If you’d rather read the book, you can find that here.

If you would like to learn even more about William Wilberforce, you can read my other posts about him here and here and find more great books and resources that I recommend.  I think it is encouraging and inspiring to learn about people who loved Jesus Christ and worked to help others.  What an excellent example William Wilberforce is to follow.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.”  Hebrews 10:24

  1. I’ve been longing to read a William Wilberforce book for two years now and thought my husband was going to buy me it for Christmas, but alas, I still wait. His life was such an inspiration to me. I love the fact that he stood alone and on the word of God with such courage!!! Not many people in his day would be able to survive such things or be brave enough to take the stance and make a difference. God was seriously with him through it all. I want to be like that.
