Help Keep Orphans Out of Slavery by Partnering With Make Way Partners

Little JohnMy husband and I receive newsletters from Eternal Perspectives Ministries, and one of these newsletters had a story about a little boy in Sudan named John and a ministry called Make Way Partners.  The story grabbed our attention.  Please take a minute to read this short story.

Make Way Partners is a ministry that is helping orphans.  Their mission statement is as follows, “Make Way Partners is a Christian mission agency committed to prevent and combat human trafficking and all forms of modern–day slavery by educating and mobilizing The Body of Christ.”  There are so many orphans that are vulnerable to much danger, and many are captured and forced into slavery.  Make Way states, “These orphans are absolutely the most vulnerable people in the world to starvation, disease, human trafficking and all forms of oppression.”

As my husband and I read stories about these vulnerable children, my heart broke for them.  We saw faces of many children that needed to be sponsored so that they wouldn’t have to become slaves but could stay safe in an orphanage.  We felt that we needed to help these children.  I went to bed that night praying, “Lord, which child do you want us to sponsor?”  One little girl, little Mary, kept coming to my mind over and over.  I felt that the Lord was impressing upon my heart the child we should help.  By morning, my husband had also come to the conclusion that we should sponsor Mary.

We signed up to sponsor her, and now we have a picture of Mary and we’ve even received some letters from her.  She is being taken care of in an orphanage where she is learning about Jesus, of whom it was said, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”  Isaiah 61:1

“Through the Hope of the Gospel, we go to the most vulnerable & least protected to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery.”  – Make Way Partners

Would you be able to sponsor a child so he or she can be protected from a life of slavery?
